In inglese l'acronimo VIP (Very Important Person) viene pronunciato scandendo ciascuna lettera: V-I-P. Inoltre, anche se in entrambe le lingue questo termine designa persone importanti in qualsiasi settore (politica, economia, medicina ecc.), non solo nel mondo dello spettacolo, in italiano viene utilizzato per lo più in quest'ultima accezione. Invece in inglese, in questo caso, si preferisce il sostantivo celebrity: There were many celebrities at the party, alla festa c'erano molti vip.
